Substitution tables are a great way to support New to English EAL learners. They separate a sentence into parts and learners have to join words and phrases together to create sentences, as you can see from this substitution table.
The substitution tables that you can download from the link at the bottom (created by a colleague of mine) allows EAL learners to describe and explain different specialised cells.
