Split headlines involves speaking and listening.
Each EAL learner has half of a sentence (a split headline).
Learners have to walk around the classroom saying their half / split headline sentence and listen out for the matching half.
They then join up and ensure that they have made the correct sentence.
Stand learners in a circle and each pair reads out the joined headline / sentence and others listen to check that it is correct.
The example of split headlines I have attached was used to practice causal connectives.
